ADR glossary
Position paper
A written summary a party or lawyer submits before mediation outlining their view of the dispute, issues, and desired outcomes.
General information only, not legal advice, mediation advice, or a substitute for professional judgment. Neutly is administrative software for mediator practices; it does not host live video or select court neutrals. Mediators and lawyers remain responsible for their work.
Position papers help mediators design the agenda and spot gaps before joint session. They are often exchanged confidentially to the mediator only, not automatically to the other side, depending on practice rules.
Secure upload through party onboarding keeps papers off unsecured email. Mediators download from the matter record with audit trails appropriate for sensitive commercial and family matters.
